Control the Breath, Control the Mind...

Yes, panic attacks are a bitch to deal with; and once they begin they can form a cycle of reinforcement where each attack makes the next attack even more severe. You need to break the cycle. Here's how.

One, excellent, non-drug way to stop panic attacks is to consciously breathe. This means that you remain aware of your breath, throughout the day, and you never allow your breathing to become erratic. Why? Because when you are in fear, you typically breathe erratically, and from high in the chest. Conversely, you can actually cause yourself to enter a state of irrational fear simply by breathing erratically, and high in the chest. This type of erratic breathing causes fear, and fear causes this type of breathing -- one will cause the other.

By maintaining a constant and even state of breathing, where your breath comes in deep and steady, and goes out deep and steady, your mind will naturally relax. Why? Because when you are deeply relaxed you breathe deep and steady.

Once you start to become aware of your breathing patterns, notice how each pattern causes (or is triggered by) your state of mind. For example if you want to feel passionate about something you want to do, then breath passionately (usually it is a fast, deep in-breath and slow, relaxed out-breath as in: "ooohhh!" and "aaahhhh!"

The bottom line is that you cannot slip into a panic attack as long as you are breathing slowly, steadily, and deeply. The onset of a panic attack will try to make you breath a fearful breath -- much like panting -- but you can control this urge and stop the attack in its tracks.

Pay attention to how different breathing patterns cause different states of mind, and how your different states of mind cause specific breathing patterns. Then you can easily enter into any state of mind you choose by breathing it into being.

You can control your state of mind through your breath -- try it and see. If you feel a panic attack coming on, quickly focus on your breath, force yourself to breath a relaxing breath, and notice that the panic simply goes away. Do not focus on the panic, focus on your breath. Do not fight with your panic or you will make it worse -- simply ignore it and breath deeply, slowly, steadily... and if you can smile as you do it then so much the better.

By the way, the folks at Avatar Coaching can lead you through the process -- so you are not alone, and you can learn the method easily.

How to Treat Anxiety -- with Avatar Coaching

Anxiety and panic attacks can destroy your life. Over 41 million Americans suffer from some form of panic or anxiety disorder. But, it can be healed, quickly and completely, forever -- I am living proof. Here I will share with you what worked for me.

You and I know how terribly awful panic and uncontrolled anxiety can be; I've been there, most of my life, and I am here to tell you that you can beat it, just like I did. I promise you, when you finally heal it, you will see the great gift it offers you -- and it is a wonderful, magical, life changing gift that will leave you empowered to face any challenge -- and win.

This site is dedicated to helping you see the real truth of panic disorders and anxiety attacks -- and then to erase them from your life once and for all. You can do it; but it takes a change of mind, and you will need to question the things you now take for granted -- you will need to replace your old negative thinking with some new and positive ways of seeing life. It takes just a little work, but the rewards are well worth the effort.

I will show you many ways that you can learn to cope with your panic and anxiety, but what we are after is a true and lasting healing, so you no longer need to cope. Coping is a first step -- you need to first become grounded in your strength and find some peace again. Yet coping by itself will never free you. What will free you is a simple process that leads you to facing -- and even welcoming -- your fears.

You will see that your fear is not real -- it is merely an old story you have told yourself over and over again until you believe it is true. Your fear story isn't true -- your fear is actually just a label you place on certain bodily sensations that are nothing more than a natural surge of chemicals and hormones going off in your brain and body. You can re-label those sensations to mean anything you want, such as "power."

Let's be clear -- almost everything in your life is a story; not based on reality but on fiction. Knowing this and seeing this is just a first step however; because the fear will continue until you break the cycle. Breaking the cycle will require you to make some fundamental changes in your thinking and this can come only from a new experience of your Self.

When you experience the truth that your panic is not real, then you have some real power that you can apply to all areas of your life. I know that when you are having a panic attack it feels very very real -- but I promise you it is not what you feel.

One method is to separate your consciousness/awareness from your experience. You can watch a panic attack happening and not feel afraid. I know, I've done it, and it left me feeling very strong and powerful. Now I know, from experience, that I can simply choose to not be afraid of anything because I see that my fear -- no matter how real it may seem at the time -- is nothing more than my old story (or an old label) that I once placed on certain body sensations.

It will all make sense to you as you progress. Persist in your efforts to see through the illusion of fear, and you will succeed. You will be a very different and very powerful person afterward -- happier, healthier, wealthier -- and at peace with yourself.

Behind your fear is the greatest gift you can give yourself -- it is the gift of presence, of knowing beyond any doubt that you are free, now and forever. From that place of freedom you no longer need to play hide and seek games with yourself -- you can finally be yourself and not be concerned about what others think or do. You will no longer need to be perfect or "right" and you can laugh at your mistakes. In fact, you can laugh at just about anything because you will see that none of it affects who you really are -- and nothing can make you afraid.

Your panic and anxiety attacks are then seen to be what they have always been in reality -- a call to awaken and be your best self. You can do it.

You are actually very lucky to be having panic attacks, because you have the motivation and the opportunity to see through the illusions of your life and awaken from the dream of fear that afflicts almost everyone else in this world. Fear is always a mistake. You can be fearless.

You have given yourself your panic attacks because you made a choice (very likely an un-conscious choice) to be a person of power -- dealing with your fear is the best way. Fear is always the only thing that holds you back -- and by facing and healing your anxiety attacks you will never be held back in anything you choose to do, ever again. You know that what I speak is the truth. The truly powerful people throughout the ages were so because they had conquered their fear.

Now you can be fearless too. Imagine that! Imagine yourself being and having everything you truly want in life -- you are ready for it or you would not be here. Go all the way through your fear and it will never haunt you ever again.
